Female fat loss is a frustrating business. You’ve been attending the gym, maybe even working with a trainer, sticking to a strict fat loss diet and avoiding those girls nights out. Your tummy is smaller, clothes are looser but there is one stubborn area where you’re not seeing results and that’s off your hips, thighs or backside. Well you are not alone and here’s why.

Estrogen, the hormone responsible for regulating your menstruation cycle has a very high affinity with estrogen receptors located in the legs, predominantly in the hips, thighs and buttock area. Poor food and lifestyle choices can increase the level of fat storing form of estrogen called Estradiol, which in turn leads to a large amount of fat being stored in this troublesome area. So, now you know why you a predisposed to storing fat on your hips, thighs and backsides, what can you do about it? These are my top 5 tips:

1. Eliminate All Processed Sugar: Sugar, especially processed forms, increase the aromatase enzyme in your lower body, whose role is to convert testosterone (yes ladies you do have some) into Estradiol (the fat storing estrogen) thereby increasing lower body fat. These same poor choices also force your body to manufacture more estrogen than you need, again leading to an increase in Estradiol. (See a pattern here?)  I’ve written loads of articles on the other negative benefits of sugar.  Click here to see them.

2. Eat Cruciferous Vegetables: Without a doubt, the most effective way of ridding your body of Estradiol is to give your detox factory (Liver) a helping hand by loading up on cruciferous vegetables like Broccoli, spinach, cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower just to name a few.

3. Get Omega 3’s in You: Eating foods like Tuna, Salmon, Cod and other oily fish will increase your consumption of Omega 3’s and this can also assist with boosting your liver’s ability to remove Estradiol from your system and thereby lower your body’s fat storing hormone.

4. Drink Clean Water: I’m not talking about tap water. Ever heard the term we are a hairy, salty bag of water? We are about 75% water. Drinking good clean filtered water alleviates pressure off the liver because anything toxic we consume, the body has to get rid of. Simply multiply your body weight by 0.033 to calculate how much water in litres you should be drinking per day. Then just divide that figure by 6 to work out how much water you should drink before each meal.  For more info on what filtering device we recommend.

5. Take An Awesome Multi-Vitamin: I’m not a big proponent of supplements because in my opinion, Man has not yet gained the intelligence to outdo mother nature when it comes to packaging vitamins, minerals and other important ingredients into a single food item. An apple is way healthier than the multi vitamin pill we produce en-mass. However, we have managed to infiltrate, poison and ruin almost every single mass produced food supply on the planet, through herbicides, insecticides and lack of sufficient crop rotation. So, if you eat mainstream food supplies and don’t eat organic and fresh free range food, then you must get yourself a superior multi-vitamin supplement, one that contains high quality B complex, Magnesium and Zinc as a minimum.

To have a healthier, happier relationship with your body, it’s important to focus on shifting the stubborn fat from areas like your hips, thighs or backside. By making some lifestyle changes and incorporating certain exercises into your routine, you can start seeing results in no time. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and startshiftin’!
