The Biggest Loser is back on our screens.  With a viewing audience rating in the millions, it’s clear that a truckload of people are watching this show.  Now while I personally don’t subscribe to their tactics given the show is an entertainment show, I welcome the show as a method of motivating people to get off their couch and exercise.

I want to make this point crystal clear.  “YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS JOURNEY DOESN’T HAVE TO BE LIKE THAT”.

You don’t have to be ridiculed, yelled at, smashed, belittled, bullied, downtrodden, made to vomit, made to cry just to achieve a huge fat loss goal and change your life.  Please bear in mind that you get to watch an hour a night.  These contestants are in a competition to lose the most WEIGHT, so what you don’t see is what goes on for the other 23 hrs of the day.  Remember too that the show is heavily edited to provide the maximum ratings and entertainment value.  So watching an obese person eat 4 litres of ice cream in one sitting is world class ratings whereas watching them sleep is not.

What you don’t see is the large numbers of support people in the background (medical staff, psychologists, dieticians, ambulance) all guiding these people.

What you don’t see is the huge amount of time they spend actually exercising (up to 5 hours a day).

Whether it’s losing a huge amount of body fat, or simply getting stronger, there’s no doubt that it takes hard work and some changes in your lifestyle.

As a personal trainer who specialises in assisting people lose body fat and get stronger and fitter, I will fully assess you and dig real deep to find out your “WHY”.  I will map out a blueprint to get you what you want when you want it. I will then train you, guide you, coach you, mentor you and assist you, to execute that plan.  I will provide you with the resources you need to sustain the regime we set in place for you, so that you can continue on your own when I’m not with you.

I’m not saying this it’s going to be easy.  I’m just saying that it doesn’t have to be like on TV.  Please remember, it’s a reality TV show designed to win ratings and make money for its shareholders. It does that by showing things that compel people to watch it, who in turn watch the adverts in between and see the products that have been placed strategically throughout the show and then go out and buy them and make the advertisers and product placement companies profits rise.  Why else would fitness equipment manufacturers sponsor the show?
