Learn to Think Positive

I’ve written a ton of articles on the power of the sub conscious mind and positive psychology, but I’ve never talked about the direct link between them and body fat loss, so today I’m going to link the two together.

The other day I talked about the SNS (sympathetic nervous system) which is a built in self protection mechanism designed to control our ability to fight tigers and combat starvation.  Because its automatic you have absolutely no control over it.

The sub-conscious mind is another area of your brain that you have little control over but unlike the SNS we do control what we commit to the subconscious mind, because it’s our thoughts and learned behaviour that formulates our sub consciousness.

Here’s an example: think back to when you learned to drive.  The whole hand brake start on the hill thing and co-ordinating all of those different tasks.  If you are anything like me, it took some time to learn, but now, I bet you can do it without thinking about it, while talking on a mobile phone, eating a sandwich and yelling at the kids in the back seat.  By practicing it over and over again, at some stage it became a permanent fixture in your subconscious mind, a bit like those programs that run in the background on your computer supposedly protecting you from viruses and hackers.  The program of hill starting now runs in the background and is only called upon when needed.

So, what has this got to do with fat loss?  A lot of what we do to gain weight is reactionary based upon learned behaviours and habits that are committed in the sub conscious mind.  Things like eating when we’re stressed, choices of food we make, lying in bed when we know we ought to go for a walk.

So, how do we change?  Easy, we learn to think in a different frame of light, to think positive.  But how?  Well many years ago I wrote an article on this exact topic.  I’ve put a link to it here, so feel free to check it out.  It talks about ants and pots, but not the ones you’re thinking of.
