Welcome to the world of eating right for your metabolic type.  There are few things in life as liberating as discovering your metabolic type and finally coming to understand exactly what foods and food combinations will enable you to enjoy life thoroughly and live it to the fullest.

Most of us have been slaves to our food, however, now the tables have turned.  Once you recognise your metabolic individuality, you are now in control.  Your results indicate that you are a carbohydrate type.

Carb Type

Characteristics Of A Carbohydrate Type

  1. Relatively Weak Appetite: For carbo types, a little food can go a long way.  You may eat 3 squares a day but often meals won’t be large or you may even be satisfied with 2 meals with smaller snacks.
  2. High Tolerance for Sweets:  Unless you have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) your metabolism copes quite well with sweets.  It’s both a blessing and a curse because chances are you reach for them when you need a quick shot of energy (3.30pm itis) and if you over do them, other medical problems like insulin resistance, diabetes and hypoglycemia can occur.
  3. Problems with Weight management: You’re often quite lean and struggle to gain muscle, but putting on fat is really easy.  Because you eat irregularly, and tend to snack on sweets, you may have a lower metabolism, meaning your body switches into starvation mode often.
  4. Type “A” Personalities: Some of you have classic Type “A” personalities.  You tend to be aggresive, goal orientated highly motivated workaholics.  Your energy levels tend to come in spurts.  Aside from the fact you don’t have large appetites, you often think you don’t have time to eat, which horrifies protein types.
  5. Caffeine Dependent:  Pretty self explanantory.

Dietary Emphasis For Carbohydrate Types:

Eat relatively small amounts of protein and fats compared to carbohydrates.  However, not all proteins are created equal.  You will do better on lighter proteins that are low in fat and low in purines. You have the freedom of eating a wide selection (NOTE: selection not quantity.

You can still over eat) of carbohydrates both starchy and non because your system converts them into glucose (energy) reasonably slowly compared to the other types.  It is for this exact reason that you need to avoid heavier types of protein as these will leave you feeling drained, sluggish and just down right tired.
